Do you want an efficient, cost effective and reliable way to assess your students?

Introduction

What are Access Arrangements?

In addition to reasonable adjustments in the classroom, it is a requirement for schools to make Exam Access Arrangements. Such arrangements enable pupils with special educational needs, disabilities or temporary injuries to access the assessment without changing the demands of it. AA allow students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills without giving them an unfair advantage.

Access Arrangements can include:

  • extra time

  • a reader

  • a scribe

  • word processor

  • supervised rest breaks

About

Hello! Let me introduce myself...

web photo.jpg

My name is Liz and since 2016, I have been working as a freelance Access Arrangements Assessor in many schools and colleges in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Prior to 2016, I worked as a teacher within a large Secondary school and part of my role was to identify students who required access arrangements. I was responsible for all AA assessments and online applications working closely with the Exams Officer.

As a freelance AA assessor, I offer a flexible, reliable and competitive service that relieves your busy SENDCo from the time consuming process of assessing students and allowing them to attend to their many other responsibilities instead.

I am a qualified teacher since 1991 and I hold the Level 7 qualification CPT3A for assessing access arrangements. I hold my own DBS certificate and I am registered to the yearly update system. Also, I hold both professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Each year I attend update courses to ensure current knowledge on the JCQ rules and regulations alongside many other CPD that is available to educational professionals.

Services

My Services

We all know that a SENDCo’s life is a busy one and that access arrangements is only a small part of your role. My job is to lighten the load where AA are concerned and remove the burden of assessing your students.

  • I use a wide range of standardised assessments that can provide the appropriate evidence for the AA your students are using and so enable an easy online application process.

  • I can provide up to date resources such as well as the latest information on current AA guidelines.

  • I am always at the end of a telephone or computer if you need any AA advice or just need to discuss a particular student.

My rates are extremely reasonable as I charge by the hour plus the cost of the test booklets used.

How does it work?

After the initial contact and discussion about your needs, I will need at least a skeleton Part 1 of the JCQ Form 8 completed for each student before any assessment can take place. I can assess students individually and in small groups depending on the assessments needed and I am able to provide all the test booklets required. On average, I am able to assess around 15 students per day, but I have managed 22 on an exceptional one! After the assessments, I complete Part 2 of each Form 8 and return them to you where we can discuss the results and how they could be used.

If you’d like more details of my charges or discuss how I can help you, get in touch.

We have benefitted greatly from Liz's expertise since we opened our 6th Form College. She has provided valuable insight into students' needs and the exam access arrangements processes, which has been invaluable as a SENCO who was new to Key Stage 5. Our students are always well supported and put at ease through the whole assessment process, with Liz taking time with each student to create as full a picture as possible of the student's needs.
